Much Needed Update

Good Morning! I thought I would try and find some time to give you guys an update since we have been MIA. The plague is going around the Wilcox House and our little one is super sick. What a expedition it has been. Thanksgiving night we woke up to our little one coughing throughout the night and it was pretty much all down hill from there. Friday morning came and sure enough she was sick. She was coughing, congested, and miserable. So I made a Doctors appointment and low and behold she was diagnosed with a virus. She advised us that she would get worse before she got better and to keep a close eye on her temperature. She told us that if her temperature got above 102.3 that she needed to be seen within 24 hours. So the evening came she had a fever, we gave her tylenol and her temperature just kept rising and rising. She was up from 2:00am-7:00am crying and her temperature got up to 103. So Saturday we had to get her in to the after hours emergency care, they did a number of tests and were worried about her hydration and told us that if we could not get at least an ounce per hour in her we would have to syringe feed her 5ml every 5-10 minutes and that she wanted to follow up the next morning on her condition. Luckily we didn't have to resort to the syringe but we could only get her to take .5 ounces every 30 minutes. So Saturday night Jimmy's Grandma drove into town to come help us thank goodness for her. We are so thankful and blessed to have such caring and loving family members that don't hesitate when it comes to these sorts of things. Sunday morning we took her in for her follow up and the doctor discovered an ear infection-joy. Monday I was taken down by the virus and had a 103.5 fever. I haven't been that sick in five years. I was just about ready to go to the hospital. Luckily Jimmy was able to come home and take me to urgent care- they gave me two shots, a steroid and antibiotic and prescribed me some pain meds and a hefty antibiotic. Monday night Addelyn was coughing to the point of vomiting so Tuesday we called the doctor and she had us come back in and now Addelyn has bronchiolitis. Bronchiolitis is an infection in the respiratory tract that infects the tiny airways, called the bronchioles, that lead to the lungs. As these airways become inflamed, they swell and fill with mucus, making it difficult for baby to breathe. So we are having to do breathing treatments by administering albuterol through a nebulizer which is kind of scary. So here we are on Wednesday and I am praying, that we do not end up in the doctor today.

Having a sick baby is hard. Theres nothing that compares. Really. I cannot even explain what it's like to see your little one so miserable and there's nothing you can do to help them feel better. We are tired, worried and eager to be over all of this sickness. I just want to say thank you to everyone for your prayers and concerns.
