Dusting Off The Cobwebs

I thought I would take a moment to dust off the cobwebs and tune in. (This is attempt number 3-ha!) I've been busy taking care of this sick babe and letting all else fall to the way side. Its been over two weeks since I've brushed my hair or worn make up. The extent of chores around the house has been laundry and not because I'm trying to stay on top of things but sheerly because of the amount of vomit.-yes. So I left off with Wednesday praying that we wouldn't end up in the Dr. and while we didn't Wednesday we did Thursday. Wednesday night our little peach was coughing to the point of vomiting and gave us the scare of a lifetime and quit breathing for a few seconds from choking. Thursday morning I raced her into the Dr's office and sure enough the Dr. was not at all impressed with her progress and decided it was time to test her for pertussis- aka whooping cough. Yeah the one thing I tried everything in my power to prevent her from getting. For those of you who aren't mommas yet let me fill you in: Babies DIE from whooping cough... how? Inability to catch their breathe or from coughing to the point of choking. WONDERFUL right? We are still waiting for the test results. The Dr. decided to prescribe her a steroid and a second antibiotic leaving Addelyn with a total of 5 medications. I'm not sure exactly what God is trying to teach me in these moments of weakness as a mother. In the four months of my career as a mother I have never questioned myself so much as to what to do. Having a sick baby is rough but having a sick baby that isn't getting better is just plain terrifying.

This lack of routine is starting to get to me without a doubt. Addelyn was for the most part transitioned to her own room prior to getting sick and now she's either sleeping in the swing or being held in order to help keep her up right so she can breathe and to prevent her from coughing. I've attempted to put her down in her crib and bassinet during the day and she refuses. So hello sleep training again.

Today was her last day of antibiotics she is fever free and congestion free but still fighting the coughing and vomiting. Her spirits are amazing which is a good sign and I am eagerly awaiting to announce a 100% healthy baby.

I have lots to update about so stay tuned to hear about our Big Announcement, Thanksgiving, Sleep Training 411 and a 4 month update!

    1. Thank you friend! My goal is for my blog to be a testimony of motherhood for my daughter and other mommies so I'm definitely trying to keep things real :). I'm sure as she gets older things will just get more and more interesting as I plan to bare it all! Blogging is a juggling game for sure! I loved hearing your thoughts!
